I tried music in Spanish to my children to hear in stores and libraries in recent years. This set is my favorite. It is not too corny or pedagogical. What you get is two boxes of music, video and a booklet with the lyrics of songs written in English and Spanish. All songs are sung in Spanish. There is no English on this tape or video. There is no story or the narrator. Only the songs and the songs are great. I think I would call their most popular songs and traditional songs for children. I do not think any of them were religious. There is no attempt to conquer their children with the latest sounds good – no rap, hip-hop or rock and roll. There were no crazy sound effects (thank goodness). There are songs about planes, trains, frogs, when I see my love again, rice pudding, clouds, a man who sells oranges, my noisy neighbor next door, who is learning to play the violin. . .
The voices are good, the music is simple, and more animated. And when listening to often and later with the words from time to time, you may actually have a lot of vocabulary, much less learn to listen and choose the words, inflections, rhythms. . . I use it to complement a home education program more formal Spanish.
I do not like this series? Video not care. I’m not giving children “stimulus” for your brain. I think real life is very exciting and I’m not trying to make one of my kids in the projects of science, Mozart baby, or whatever. I wish I could buy just the music without the video. I also want to go buy a CD or two instead of tape. Finally, we would have some basic information on this music since I enjoyed it. It would be nice to know what country this is, for example.
However, you can see I have given five stars. This beautiful collection of songs is worth it.
